09:47.10dafoxHi all. I've been here a few times before to ask about an issue with the recent ssu update where some apps my n900 will become 'confused' about the orientation (portrait or landscape mode). Does anyone have any more information on this issue?
09:48.45merlin1991dafox first of, you highest chance to get an answer is to stay
09:48.51merlin1991and hope for someone to be around
09:48.56merlin1991to your issude
09:49.10merlin1991form 1.2 to 2.1 there was nothing changed related to orientation handling

10:58.51DocScrutinizer51dafox: I tried to answer yesterday, but you were gone
11:00.36DocScrutinizer51anyway you may find povbot chanlog comes in handy

12:31.33dafoxmerlin1991, DocScrutinizer: thanks. Still I've never experienced this before the update, and now it happens quite frequently. I'm suspecting that there is a relation between this and the interface 'crashing' when switching full-screen in drnoksnes
12:31.59dafoxwhat exactly is this 'povbot'?
12:32.18merlin1991a bot on this channel who writes logs
12:32.32DocScrutinizer51povbot is helpful bot

12:35.33dafoxI'm not sure what to take from that log, you are saying it is related to the lock button?
12:35.54DocScrutinizer51not exactly
12:36.48DocScrutinizer51it's helpful to scan what happened in chan during times you weren't in or simply weeks or months ago
12:37.26DocScrutinizer51not related to a particular topic
12:38.00dafoxDocScrutinizer: yes, I found the log for yesterday, read it, but I didn't quite understand what you were trying to say? You were talking about a 'blacklist'?
12:38.17DocScrutinizer51though if you have a good search word, you might find former discussions about same topic
12:39.14DocScrutinizer51mhm, there's a blacklist with apps that mustn't rotate via Hildon - I gather dialer is one of them
12:39.22DocScrutinizer51bbl, break over
12:41.13dafoxbut dialer (the phone app?) does rotate?
13:15.24merlin1991dafox: there 2 kinds of rotations on maemo5
13:15.32merlin1991real ones which are affected by hidlon-desktop
13:15.43merlin1991and not so real ones for example done by the dialer
13:16.10Lava_Croftrotation is either managed by h-d, or by the application itself, right
13:17.17Lava_Croftdafox: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=76377
13:17.21Lava_CroftThat is what DocScrutinizer51 was talking about
13:17.59Lava_Croftblacklist feature, tells cssu hildon-desktop what application it should leave alone (ie. applications that do rotation by themselves or applications that should not be rotated)
13:19.36Lava_Croftfeel free to gag me if i talk shit
13:36.15*** join/#maemo-ssu wmarone (~wmarone@c-67-174-151-253.hsd1.ca.comcast.net)
13:38.00dafoxok, so blacklist would only cause less apps to rotate, not more :/ But for example (this is the most annoying) xbmc-remote now incorrectly rotates, whereas it didn't before, and it also doesn't rotate after a fresh boot
13:38.29merlin1991dafox: did you enable forced-rotation?
13:39.00dafoxI didn't change anything, I just updated to latest cssu. I don't think I've ever activated that though.
13:39.34merlin1991I'm out of idead then apart from mce talks shit
13:39.49merlin1991s/idead/ideas/
13:39.54Lava_Crofti thought this was with forced rotation enabled
13:39.59Lava_Croft:|
13:41.45dafoxgrepping for rotate or force in /usr/share/hildon-desktop/transitions.ini doesn't show forced rotation is on
13:42.23Lava_Croftforcerotation is the exactly thing
13:42.31Lava_Croftexact*
13:42.58Lava_Crofti have no idea what it could be
13:43.08Lava_Croftbut my knowledge is rather limited anyways

13:59.43amiconnDocScrutinizer51: (regarding gcc and optimisation) I've seen gcc do rather silly things for arm as well as coldfire and sh1. That was with optimisation turned on (usually -O2 or -Os)
14:00.54amiconnDepending on what the function is doing exactly, it is oftem possible to write a pure asm function that's twice as fast (and smaller) than what gcc produces
