16:02.14jsmithplarsen: You alive?
16:02.28jsmithplarsen: If so, ping me (or if I don't respond, call me!)
16:02.49plarsenjsmith: ping :)\
16:02.54jsmithAh, you are alive
16:03.04plarsenjsmith: hard to call when you don't have a number ;)
16:03.10jsmithI was wondering if you were going to be around tonight, if I can pick up some laptop parts
16:03.16plarsenI'm moving to a new laptop ...
16:03.21jsmithI was in the middle of messaging you my number
16:03.27plarsenI'll be in culpeper after 8pm
16:03.42plarsenI was planning to work from home today - but that didn't happen
16:03.56jsmithOK... my local church had a laptop get fried in the thunderstorms, so I'm hoping to cobble something back together
16:04.20plarsenSure - give me a call. But I won't be able to get home before 8pm
16:04.23jsmithIt's an older-model D510, so it should be fairly close to the laptops you had parts for
16:04.31plarsenAfter that, I have all the latitude parts in my trunk
16:04.42jsmithThat's fine... I probably won't get out to culpeper until 8 or later anyway
16:04.43plarsenMost likely the internal power supply
16:04.50jsmithRight...
16:04.52plarsenjsmith: do you have my cell?
16:05.40jsmithI do now :-)
16:05.54plarsenhehe
16:07.32plarsenFunny - I tired to get rid of the last 4 at Novalug this weekend - but they didn't want to take the chance of looking cause they knew they would get some ;)
16:07.42plarsentoo much to do for all of us :(
16:08.27plarsenstickster: Have you seen if there's a fix for the F11 vmware bug?
16:08.46sticksterIs this a bug in VMWare, or in F11?
16:09.16plarsenhehe - I knew you would ask
16:09.44plarsenDepending on who you ask ... there's been done some kernel changes, so some of the symbols that vmware depend on aren't there anymore
16:09.51plarsenLets start the blame game :)
16:10.27plarsenI've seen reports on the problem - but nothing at vmware that talks about fixing it - and strangely enough nothing on the fedora11 kernel (other distros too) that talks about fixing it either
16:10.49plarsenOhhh - I think I found a f11 install bug.
16:10.59plarsenKick me if I forget, but I'll try to file the bug this weekend
16:11.31plarsenTry to run the installer on an existing system with an LVM group with two physical devices associated with it ... it goes ARGGH and crashes
16:12.04plarsenAnd somehow the installer doesn't allow you to add new physical volumes to existing volume groups
16:12.10plarsenThat may be a feature - not a bug ;)
16:14.35jsmithNo, it sounds like a bug
16:14.43sticksterIt does sound like a bug.
16:15.02sticksterThe vmware thing is vmware's problem, there's no blame game to be had :-)
16:15.08jsmithwishes he had the bandwidth to download F11
16:15.35jsmithplarsen: Any chance you could burn me an F11 DVD before I show up tonight?  I'd be happy to pay you for the media or bring you some blanks...
16:18.53plarsenI have the ISO with me, not sure I can find a blank DVD here at work
16:18.59plarsenI'll give it a try jsmith
16:20.11jsmithplarsen: Worse comes to worse, I'll bring an ethernet cross-over and copy the ISO directly
16:21.59plarsenheh - you're gonna kill me. My new laptop's core OS is still windows. I'm fighting to get a F11 vm up but alas there's a big compile issue I'm searching for a resolution on.  But I'm willing to give it a try. I have usb drives I can use instead if worse comes to worse.
16:22.42plarsenI'll prolly do cross-over office and have MS Outlook running once I get that problem solved (getting rid of the big virus!).
16:23.17plarsenEvolution and Thunderbird simply aren't good enough for "prime time". I'm tired of loosing mail and very very slow processing.
16:24.37plarsenDoes anyone know who this is??
