20:47.58denishello
20:48.13denissomeone is compiling their own binaries for Zipit?
21:00.16denissomeone ?????
21:06.47GPSFandenis: few people are around on weekends unless they are colaborating on a project. I have compiled lots of stuff for the zipit. What's your question?
21:08.11denisI don't know where to start............, for example, I am wondering if I coul compile openvpn por it
21:09.08denisI would like to compile some other programs, I already soldered a 64 mb SD on my zipit, so I have room for a lot of apps, I believe
21:11.06GPSFandenis: TomW has used openvpn on his, he might be of some help. Start with buildroot, that will get you a cross toolchain which you will need. be sure and choose the proper version of uClibc (0.9.27 vs 0.9.28) depending on what you flashed the zipit with.
21:11.45denisI flashed it with Adam's
21:12.43GPSFantry ls /lib and see which version of uClibc it has (i've forgotten if Adam's was Burn3 based or OpenZipit based)
21:14.33denis9.27
21:15.41GPSFanok, so when you run make menuconfig for buildroot be sure to choose the 0.9.27 version of uClibc.  Are you new to linux/embedded development?
21:15.55denisyep
21:16.14GPSFanbtw you may ave to edit the config for buildroot to allow that version.
21:16.35denisI've bought a Zipit and a linksys WRT54GL to have fun with
21:17.03denisI am downloading the latest snapshot of buildroot rightnow
21:17.33denisI also have the version of www.openzipit.org but I don't know if I should be using it......
21:18.40deniswhat do I have to edit?
21:19.25GPSFanwait a min.. I'm checking on some stuff...
21:20.04denisok, thanxs
21:30.40GPSFanok, your best bet is to start here: http://www.openzipit.org/  Use T0mW's buildroot, but when you run "make menuconfig" you will need to choose a uclibc snapshot for a specific date. This is because the 0.9.28 (which is the current stable release) and 0.9.27 are not ABI compatible.
21:32.02denisI was checking TomW buildroot and it didn't had an option for ulibc version
21:32.17GPSFansince yiou already have 0.9.27 flashed in your zipit programs wuilt fot 0.9.28 won't work. you can either switch to 0.9.28 (by reflashing with OpenZipit) or stick with what you have.
21:32.55GPSFanthe way you choose uClibc has changed since I did OpenZipit, one has to adapt...
21:32.56denisI want't to stick with it
21:33.28denis:)
21:34.11denisthanxs, I will play a little with tomsw buildroot
21:34.24GPSFanwell, the first thing to do is to get familiar with using buildroot. I'd try downloading it and just using the defaults for a while. once you can build applications using it's toolchain you can figure out how to customize it.
21:35.24denisthanxs
21:36.11GPSFanyou could always built the application statically and not worry about the uClibc version. at the cost of executable size.
21:37.44GPSFanbtw buildroot downloads a LOT of stuff, and takes a while to build it's toolchain, so a broadband connection and lots of hdd space helps.
21:38.12GPSFangood luck..
21:40.49denisyes, that's no problem, you're very kind
21:41.00GPSFannp..
21:48.25GPSFandenis: you should also check out http://elinux.org/wiki/ZipIt lots of good info there as well as the Yahoo group.
