01:27.41dmaciasI've done a clean install of Asterisk on Cent7, should I be seeing port 5060 open? I can't register my softphone and I wonder if it's because something didn't start correctly.
01:46.33SamotJust installing Asterisk isn't enough. You did configure things, correct?
01:46.43SamotYou are using Chan_PJSIP for this?
01:46.50dmaciasyes.
01:47.05SamotAnd what error are you getting when you try to register?
01:47.06dmaciasI hope I configured things correctly using this https://www.errorhat.com/install-asterisk-on-centos-8/
01:47.16dmaciasjust a timeout on the client
01:47.25dmaciasnothing in asterisk cli.
01:47.45SamotBut you setup everything?
01:47.56dmaciasI'm going back and making sure I have all the deps, maybe that's making pjsip failing to load.
01:47.57SamotDid all the needed steps for pjsip.conf?
01:48.04dmaciasyes
01:48.18SamotDid you *configure* a Chan_PJSIP endpoint?
01:49.09SamotAnd the softphone is local to the Asterisk system?
01:49.37dmaciasUsing this for the pjsip config, endpoing config after midway under pjsip.conf settings https://www.lumenvox.com/knowledgebase/index.php?/article/AA-02067/0/Configuring-Asterisk-13.html
02:25.22SamotHow about your show your settings
02:25.32Samotdmacias: Pastebin your pjsip.conf
02:27.07dmaciasdoh, i just blew away the VM and I'm going to try with CentOS 8. If you have a good guide for the installation please let me know.
02:27.33SamotI just follow the guide on the Asterisk wiki

18:46.22igcewielingSamot: I suspect the issue is with the carrier or with SIP.    Some idiot (a new hire, I hope) ported numbers for 3 customers our "trunk group" which points to Kamailio, instead of the one which points to our Asterisk servers.    I'd hoped changing the $ruri and using send_reply with a 302, I could bounce the call to the IP of our Asterisk boxes.   Call never arrives on the Asterisk box, Level 3 retries several times.   At this point I
18:46.22igcewieling'm just sending back a 486 for those calls.
18:47.16igcewielingtcpdump shows the correct contact.
18:49.38igcewielinghmmm...apparently sending back a 486 doesn't work either.
18:50.28SamotSo the call hits kamailio and you're trying to send a redirect back to the carrier?
18:53.29igcewielingyes.
18:53.58SamotWhy don't you just route the call to the Asterisk box?
18:54.34igcewielingThe order to do that is inplace.
18:54.52SamotWell I meant at Kamailio.
18:55.23igcewielingAh.   Routing the call to Asterisk would take me longer than waiting for the orders to complete.    NOTHING in my kamailio config does that.
18:56.40SamotWell I mean you could add a dbaliase lookup within a few minutes that routes the call if it is needed before the carrier changes the route.
18:57.09igcewielingYou might be able to, but I have no idea what you mean and would have to research it and try to figure it out.
18:57.53igcewielingright now, call comes in, I do a DB lookup in my external database to verify the number is fax and the source IP is allowed, then the call is sent to the carrier IP.
18:57.59Samotdbaliases is one of the routing methods along with CarrierRoute and others.
18:58.18igcewieling*nod*
19:00.01igcewielingI doun't use any kamailio routing methods.
19:02.48igcewielingEven sending back a 486 doesn't work.
19:03.52igcewielingso far, this is what I tried https://pastebin.com/3QkQRxgs
19:04.38igcewielingbbiab
19:10.28igcewielingback for a while
19:21.32Samothttps://www.irccloud.com/pastebin/1Y6xSaTB/
19:21.55SamotDoing a rewriteuri and sending backing a 302 isn't right.
19:22.17SamotI'm sure they expect redirect headers.
19:22.41SamotBut that snippet gives you two methods to simple route it someplace
19:31.24igcewielingHow so?
19:33.28igcewielingThose are all based on samples from the internet
19:34.02*** join/#asterisk MillerBoss (~shit@your.mom.loves.millerboss.com)
19:38.54SamotWell, some places want eaxtra headers. But mainly because a 302 reply should have the new destination in the contact URI
19:39.00SamotSo it's the wrong spot.
19:39.34igcewielingum, the new destination is in the contact URI, I verified using tcpdump.   They must require a diversion header.
19:39.52SamotOK, so if the contact header is correct that could be the case.

19:41.31igcewielingI still don't understand why sending a 486 doesn't appear to work.   Carrier keeps retrying the call.
19:52.10SamotTo the same server?
19:53.17igcewielingHmm?  Yes, same server
19:53.28igcewielingthere is only one ip in the "trunk group"
19:54.33igcewielingNormally we only use kamailio for outgoing faxes, out Adtrans talk directly to Kamailo, no Asterisk involved.
19:55.05igcewielingkamailio talks to the carrier.    In this case numbers were ported to the fax "trunk group" instead of the voice "trunk group" which has our Asterisk IPs.
19:56.23igcewielingincoming faxes are send direct to Asterisk from the carrier.
19:57.20igcewielingHmmm..I don't think I've tried outbound faxing using Asterisk since I upgraded to Asterisk 16 and switched to pjsip.
20:01.52*** join/#asterisk MillerBoss (~shit@your.mom.loves.millerboss.com)
20:05.35SamotOh these are incoming faxes?
20:06.21igcewielingno, incoming faxes are send directly to Asterisk, no Kamailio.    Only outgoing faxes are handled by kamailio
20:07.18igcewielingin this case, incoming calls to the incorrectly ported numbers are being sent to kamailio by the carrier.   There is an order to fix this, but since it is a "change" and not a "repair", it won't happen until monday at the earliest.
20:07.54igcewielingthe incorreclty ported numbers are all supposed to be voice.
20:20.00igcewielingI'm VERY glad I don't live in New Orleans anymore.   I'm in Pensacola, which doesn't appear very likely to be a problem.
