00:38.05*** join/#asterisk tessier (~treed@kernel-panic/copilotco)
00:39.42WIMPyYes. IIRC the names can be a max of 10 chars.
00:40.35tessierHello all! I haven't had to use my conference bridge in literally years. Now I need it and the dahdi module won't load. There have been a number of CentOS patches/upgrades (Currently on 5.11) but Asterisk itself hasn't been updated in ages and is running 1.4.28. It's not publically reachable. I downloaded, compiled, and installed dahdi-linux-complete-current.tar.gz but when I modprobe dahdi it says: FATAL: Error inserting dahdi (/lib/modules/2.6.18
00:40.48tessierYes, this is a Xen VM. Just need the dummy timing source for Meetme.
00:41.15tessierOddly, absolutely nothing appears in dmesg.
00:42.08WIMPyThe best way would be to upgrade Asterisk and replace MeetMe with ConfBridge.
00:42.54tessierIndeed. I do intend to upgrade Asterisk. Unfortunately that won't help me with my conference call in an hour and a half. I might just have to punt on using our asterisk system and use some other service.
00:43.01WIMPyOtherwise: Are you sure you headers and configuration match your runnig kernel?
00:43.15tessierYes, only one set of headers and kernel is install now.
00:44.01tessierI removed the old kernels/header packages, did a make clean on the dahdi source, and did a fresh make install.
00:45.01WIMPyThese things tend to be a little interesting if you use packaged versions of you kernel.
00:45.25WIMPyAny more information on the failure, e.g. with dmesg?
00:46.18tessierI used to compile my own kernel all the time going back to '93 but it has become incredibly complicated to do so, particularly if you want it to work with xen. I wish I could go back to doing that and run more recent stuff than what RHEL/CentOS ships.
00:46.26tessierNothing at all appears in dmesg, despite what the error message says.
00:47.20WIMPymodprobe -v ?
00:47.42tessierWow, running ld on the dahdi.ko produces a lot of noise: data+0xf08): undefined reference to `seq_lseek'
00:48.16tessierAh! I've discovered the issue. :)
00:48.36tessierI think module loading is turned off on this machine...
00:48.43tessierEither that or SELinux. One or the other.
00:50.17tessierYep, module loading is turned off. Need a reboot to re-enable. Thanks for listening! :)
00:51.02WIMPyThat's a long time sice I built kernels without module support.
00:54.15tessierExcellent. My MeetMe's work again! :)
00:54.37tessierWIMPy: It wasn't built without module support. Module support was disabled automatically by puppet sometime shortly after boot using echo 1 > /proc/sys/kernel/modules_disabled
00:54.59tessierWe have some pretty serious security and hardening requirements. This lets us load drivers etc. at boot time but cut way down on the risk of kernel root kits.
00:55.06tessierWe are in a somewhat targeted industry.

07:00.10xochilpiliChannelZ, another question, please. Do you know why is too slow the response from php?
07:00.31ChannelZNot sure what you mean
07:01.20xochilpilii type: myipaddress:port/manage.php < the script i paste > and takes a lot of time to show something
07:01.56ChannelZnot sure.. it's pretty much instant here

07:05.34xochilpiliChannelZ, i see, i try to debug from asterisk -rvvvv and i got db.c:332 ast_db_put: Couldn't execute statment: SQL logic error or missing database
07:06.00xochilpilii have no database, i didnt realize was necesary for ami, is it?
07:06.41ChannelZno that's probably coming from something else
07:07.53xochilpilitake a look: http://pastebin.com/p3ANXcbL
07:09.30ChannelZoh.. the AST DB does use sqllite now but it's 'built in'
07:09.43ChannelZdo you run asterisk as root or a normal user?
07:10.25xochilpilias root
07:10.53ChannelZhmm
07:12.20xochilpilii have changed permission from manage.conf, but the same result.
07:12.24ChannelZ(oh and the reason it takes so long to show anything is because your script never terminates, and the output is getting cached by PHP.  I guess if you ARE eventually seeing something, it's because PHP is finally timing out for execution duration probably
07:13.07xochilpilii see nothing from browser
07:13.10ChannelZwell it'd be the permissions on the AST DB if anything.. /var/lib/asterisk/astdb*  but if you're running as root it shouldn't be an issue

07:14.14ChannelZunless somehow it got corrupt. You could try stopping asterisk, removing /var/lib/asterisk/astdb.sqlite3 and then restart it and see if it still complains
07:14.33xochilpilioks
07:16.43ChannelZAs for the other thing, it's probably much easier/faster to run your AMI from the shell rather than through the browser, unless/until you make it a proper web app if that's what you're ultimately doing
07:17.38xochilpiliyes im trying to do a webapp manager
07:17.53ChannelZAnd in general, you might search around for an existing PHP wrapper for AMI that does all the hard work of parsing for you, unless you specifically are wanting to do it yourself from scratch
07:17.58xochilpilii cant restart asterisk, since i remove astdb.sqlite3
07:18.13ChannelZwhat doy ou mean
07:18.28xochilpiliUnable to connect to remote asterisk (does /var/run/asterisk/asterisk.ctl exist?)

07:20.28xochilpilialso, i have another issues :D
07:20.28ChannelZoh... and it's not running as root
07:20.39xochilpilii hope not being rude
07:20.43ChannelZif it's running from safe_asterisk, as you can see it's using -U asterisk -G asterisk (user/group)
07:21.28ChannelZwhich is fine, but your permissions on /var/lib/asterisk are probably wrong then and it's not able to write to the database.
07:22.07xochilpililet me check
07:22.54xochilpilils -lia /var/lib/asterisk/ >  1990 -rw-r--r--   1 asterisk asterisk 3072 nov 13 02:21 astdb.sqlite3
07:23.06xochilpilishould i set +w ?
07:23.15ChannelZwell it is for the user
07:23.33xochilpilii remember to remove sqlite3 dbfile
07:23.37ChannelZso that should be fine. so long as it can write to the directory as well, but it seems like it can since it re-made the database fine
07:23.51xochilpiliyes it does
07:25.52xochilpilibut takes a lot to show response from browser
07:26.24ChannelZI answered that one already; your test PHP script never exits.
07:27.24ChannelZThe stuff it's echoing out gets buffered by PHP and not flushed to the browser so it's just sitting here doing nothing, stuck in your while() loop
07:29.13ChannelZyou can put a flush() after your in your echo inside that while() but your browser will still sit there afterwards like it's still receiving data, because the script doesn't exit
