15:45.32 | leifmadsen | hey guys! I have a routing question... |
15:46.06 | Juggie | waits |
15:46.44 | leifmadsen | I have a router attached to the Internet (192.168.128.1), and a server attached to it (192.168.128.3). The server is connected to a VPN. I want to route all traffic for 192.168.1.x (which is the VPN IP range) through 192.168.128.3. I would like ton configure the router and server in such a way that all the traffic is automatically forwarded, so I don't have ot modify the devices on my network. |
15:47.28 | leifmadsen | I added a route on the router that says, "traffic for 192.168.1.x has a gateway of 192.168.128.3", but I think I need some iptables rules on that server so that it will forward the packets, since it just responds back right now wth 'nexthop 192.168.1.x' |
15:48.52 | Juggie | what software on the router? |
15:50.11 | leifmadsen | dd-wrt |
15:50.26 | leifmadsen | just iptables I guess |
15:50.44 | leifmadsen | request --> 192.168.128.1 --> 192.168.128.3 --> VPN |
15:50.50 | leifmadsen | both .1 and .3 are basically Linux |
15:55.30 | leifmadsen | actually... adding the route might have been all I needed |

16:17.25 | leifmadsen | well that is weird.... it'll work for about a minute, then it just stops working, even though the VPN is still up and active on the gatway box... I must have something wrong still |
16:30.23 | leifmadsen | aha, ok something was wrong on the router, so now that is fixed... now just to figure out how to route through 192.168.128.3 :) |
17:43.50 | Juggie | you should be able to create a static route |
