12:13.02karthick87Hi Nirkus
12:13.13karthick87I have installed PXE server successfully
12:36.08Nirkuskarthick87: congrats :)
12:38.57karthick87Nirkus: Right now i am using hosts macaddress to install operating systems. How do i enable PXE server for all systems.?
12:42.49Nirkuskarthick87: depends on which "pxe server" you did set up.
12:44.31karthick87Nirkus: That is not the problem i guess. I use hosts mac address in dhcpd.conf to install os. I need to pxe for all the systems rather than using mac address..
12:46.00Nirkuskarthick87: ok, so youre using ISC DHCP daemon as "pxe server"
12:46.19Nirkuskarthick87: and you have a tftp server configured on the same host as your dhcp server?
12:46.50Nirkuskarthick87: in the "tftp root" of that tftp server you did put the pxelinux stuff and configuration files?
12:47.06karthick87Yes you are right
12:47.44Nirkuskarthick87: you should configure your dhcpd.conf to set "next-server" and "filename" for complete subnet (within the subnet context)
12:48.29Nirkuskarthick87: this way, every PXE capable client will try to retrieve "filename" from "next-server" using TFTP if the "PXE Boot ROM" of its netword card gets loaded during bootup
12:49.02Nirkuseverything after that you can configure using the pxelinux boot menu
12:54.13karthick87Nirkus: Pls see this is my dhcp configuration file http://paste.ubuntu.com/817581/
12:57.03karthick87Nirkus: I need to enable PXE boot from 172.29.32.20 to 172.29.32.200 How do i do that? Pls help me
13:03.37karthick87Nirkus: Could you pls help?
14:42.49Nirkushuh, gone?
14:44.30Nirkuskarthick87: you cannot decide based on the IP address whether to provide PXE attributes. your DHCP server is the authority allocating the IP address to your clients in the first place
14:45.10Nirkuskarthick87: you just need to provide the PXE attributes in the same subnet declaration as the one allocating that IP range
14:45.55Nirkuskarthick87: but, be aware that this means that PXE attributes will be offered to all clients booting up in that subnet
14:47.09Nirkusso, if you use mac-addresses to exclude some hosts from your IP range in the same subnet (broadcast domain), you must also use that filtering mechanism in DHCP conf to prevent dhcpd from offering your PXE attributes to those clients
